Yes we DID
Chris and I are political junkies. Poor Quinn's been hearing about Barack Obama since she was an embryo. She'll probably rebel someday by being a Republican! :) So we were thrilled on Election Day! The previous Sunday we all put on our Obama gear and heard Barack in front of the Statehouse. There were 60K people there and Quinn cried when they all cheered for our future president. She cheered up though and we got some great pics of our baby girl cheering for the first black president!!! :)
I grew up with my Dad talking and reading about John Kennedy constantly. President Kennedy's speeches were inspiring much like Barack's. I hope I can instill a sense of awe and appreciation in Quinn for this historic day for our country.
YES WE CAN!!!
"And Democrats, we must also admit that fulfilling America's promise will require more than just money. It will require a renewed sense of responsibility from each of us to recover what John F. Kennedy called our "intellectual and moral strength." Yes, government must lead on energy independence, but each of us must do our part to make our homes and businesses more efficient. Yes, we must provide more ladders to success for young men who fall into lives of crime and despair. But we must also admit that programs alone can't replace parents; that government can't turn off the television and make a child do her homework; that fathers must take more responsibility for providing the love and guidance their children need.
Individual responsibility and mutual responsibility - that's the essence of America's promise."

This Blessed Sip of Life
Kevin and Michele, friends of ours who just had a baby, inspired me to create a blog. I'm not sure how much time we'll have to update it, but I want to share our life with our sweet baby with all of you. I chose the title from a Dave Matthews song that we love to sing to Quinn. She likes the tune, but I hope the lyrics will stay with her throughout her life. I hope we can teach her to live by them:
Isn't it strange
How we move our lives for another day
Like skipping a beat
What if a great wave should
wash us all away
Just thinking out loud
Don't mean to dwell on this dying thing
But looking at blood
It's alive right now
Deep and sweet within
Pouring through our veins
Intoxicate moving wine to tears
Drinking it deep
Then an evening spent dancing
It's you and me
This love will open our world
From the dark side we can see a glow of something bright
There's much more than we see here
Don't burn the day away
Is this not enough
This blessed sip of life
Is it not enough
Staring down at the ground
Oh then complain and pray
more from above
Greedy little pig
Stop just watch your world trickle away
Oh it's your problem now
It'll all be dead and gone in
a few short years
Just love will open our eyes
Just love will put the hope in our minds
Much more than we could ever know
Don't burn the day away
Come sister
my brother
Shake up your bones shake up your feet
I'm saying open up
And let the rain come pouring in
Wash out this tired notion
That the best is yet to come
But while you're dancing on the ground
Don't think of when you're gone
Love! love!? what more is there?
We need the light of love in here
Don't beat your head
Dry your eyes
Let the love in there
There are bad times
But that's ok
Just look for love in it
Don't burn the day away
